well i bought a new marineland fillter and it seems to have two slots to put in the filter pad so should i use both or should it only have one in at a time

Putting in the second filter pad will provide more mech and bio filtration, but will reduce the flow. It all depends on what you want, more filtration or flow rate.

thats what i thought but would it be better to have one pad be in there for a while or two pads for a short time i thought filters need be be slightly old to grow bacteria
