I noticed the belly area of my black diamond is kind of "inflated" even if I starve her for a day or two. could it be there are eggs in side?

TL is 6.5" and I have no idea how old the fish is as the lfs I bought it from got it as a trade in.

Pretty difficult to see in the pics, I tried my best :(

I guess I won't know for sure unless it lays eggs. what do you guys think?
I just hope that's not caused by parasites.

No clue. I would think that it would take something to trigger her to make eggs. Hormones from another fish, or the rainy/dry season triggering it. I would be hesitant to assume it's eggs but it could be possible never know unless she laid...

try putting her in the square tank with your other one.. see what happens!

hahaha good idea, I could either end up with bunch of baby rhoms or just one rhom. um...that's tough call

Any one know at what size piranah, especially rhom, will be sexually matured and ready to breed?

You have to weight the risks vs rewards!! and I think they say you should give it a shot..:screwy:

you could dissect her...

I could, but can you lend me a heart and lung machine? I need to keep it alive in the mean while.

I don't think there's a perfusion pump or ventilator calibrated for such tiny volumes of blood and air respectively. Just an idea. If something really perplexes me, I generally want to dissect it.

If I knew where to cut to figure out my lady she may be in trouble. Good thing she rarely uses her brain to make decisions... :D
