I was wondering if meal worms have the same risk as feeder fish to carry disease. Anyone know? If they can carry them, how would you go about freeing them of disease? Or would you just have to trash them? What signs must you look for to tell if a worm is sick/diseased? And since we are on the topic of worms, what about Live bloodworms or black worms, or super worms, what are the risks and signs with them? Thanks

any living organism can carry parasites, and if it is ingested by another animal, be transferring to the new animal. I haven't heard of any specific instances, but it's always good to make sure you get ANY live food (or frozen for that matter, some nasties can go dormant in freezing temps) form a reputable source.

it is safer than feeder fish mostly because a feeder fish, being a fish is more likely to carry diseases that will affect other fish

Cool, but the smaller worms like bloodworms, tubifex and blackworms Ive heard theres soem risk. And they need to be cleaned or something. I dont know what to look for and if I know and find affected worms, is there a way to "clean" them or do you just get rid of them?

Im thinking about trying some mealworms, but maybe even Live Blackworms or Bloodworms. But I am cautious about it, cause I always been with Goldfish and other feeders. But I absolutely hate goldfish feeders. Not only can they be diseased but also they arent that nutritious.
