All fish are currently in a brand new 75 gallon and will probly stay there for a lil while. I have the following

1 ck about 7 inches and not growing all that quick
1 delhezi bichir
1 sveni pike
1 jd
1 mota/freddy not sure what it is yet.

I have a 30 gallon that houses a small delhezi and a small fire eel. I'm probly not gonna keep these 2 fish but im not sure. The jag i buy will go in theis tank because the lfs only sells baby jags. When he gets big enough would the 75 be ok until i set up the 150. I know the ck will out grow the 150 and when he does i will sell or trade him. So whatcha think

Do you already have a 150g?

yea its sitting in my dads garage just waiting for the room. I wanna get the jag in with the fish tho so they get used to each other rather than searching for a large jag a year from now and not knowing what type of aggression im getting

I would go ahead and set up the 150g now. Jaguar may or may not be tank mate compatible. Just depends on his individual atitude once he reaches adult size. For now, the 75g may be too small for him to escape being chased around by the bigger fishes.

I don't wanna add the jag to the 75 until he is bigger. I don't have any real aggression problems in my tank. The are plenty of place to hide but for now I wanna grow him a lil in my 30 gallon

it also depends on the sex of the jag and the sex of the other cichlids that r in the tank... like terd said i would set up the 150 first. cuz even if it didnt work out they would have plenty of space away from each other, and not that a jag is so aggro they are more about terratoriel than most cichlid and need there own space.. and also you have a freddy not a mota and freddys seem to be slighty less aggro than motas...

Well I figure by the time the jag grows a lil ill have the room for the 150. I thought freddys were more agg than motas

a jag will grow faster than u think .. and a mota is one bad arse fish with a bad temper... the freddys that i have in the other tank are with a smaller gold mota and the gold mota runs the tank...

As to aggression, Parachromis are generally much more territorial than aggressive. Being highly territorial may translate into nuisance aggression once boundaries are crossed. The bottom line is any Parachromis is capable of beating a tankmate to near death while you're at the grocery store. You can't really say one is worse than the others. They all get huge teeth and develop tremendous ramming speed early on.

Its a toss up as to whether it will work long term. Just because there are no problems now doesn't mean there won't be problems later. None of the fishes in question are fully grown in size or atitude. Just things to think about...

I understand what u guys are saying. I owned a jag about till about 2 years ago when 8 incher I had since it was an inch long jumped outta the tank. I haven't really kept a jag since ands I wanna now. My old jag was in a 55 then a 75 with a midas and jd, and a few other fish. The tank wasn't really overcrowded but the fish new who to stay away from
