hi all. i'm hoping people have extensive experience with wolfs. I would love to add another wolf to the tank so i have a pair, preferably a male and female.

However, i have 2 questions;

How easy is it to breed mala's?

will my mala (what ever sex it maybe) accept another mala?

Ta.

We'll its best to introduce them when young if you do try to introduce another Mala if there large i would be ready and waiting with a net and a tank divider as theres a large chance they will fight and with there teeth dammage can be done fast

As for breeding it can be done but i think its a little hard mainly due to aggression

best to raise a group when young.
much less aggression and much higher chance of finding a pair.
how big is yours?
also,best to have dithers.
once you get a pair it is very easy to breed them.

I would Definatly use dither fish if you try to add another wolf use large silver dollars or large tinfoil barbs if the tank is big enough

i don't want to add fish for the sake of 'filling' the tank. I am very happy with my mala to be on its own but a second would be nice. Judging by its reaction to its own reflection it would most likley be disasterous what ever was added but i sort of hoped 2 malas would find common ground; more so if it was male and female.

I can live with 1 fish in a reletively large tank.

Cheers Channarox/killerfish.

I agree 10in is reaching the death point...LOL....around 12in its a lil to late. Even if the fish is bigger the mala can tear chunks out of it rather easily. You can try but I would advise leaving him solo since u dont seem to mind and small fast dithers would be nice. More than likely they would be so small he would ignore them. Just some suggestions....Good Luck....;)
