i was looking at some japanese bichir sites and i found a few pictures of what appears to be a 16''+ senegalus! maybe this could be the senegalus "meridionalus"... either way, i thought you guys might appreciate to see pictures of a senegalus this size

there wasnt any full body shots

wow looks like a senegal but its huge any full body shots

thanks for sharing! i've been to the site a while ago. its a weeksii. you can tell by its wide fat head.

i dont see how this could be a weeksii, no pattern, colored like a senegal, the head is shaped like a senegals to me,

its a weeksii. the head is much wider than a senegal's head. you can kinda see some patterns (stripes) in the reflection in the 3rd pic. i wouldn't say its colored like a senegal. its just that for some reason the color lightens and its stripes faded as it grows.

i've been to the person's site who i presume owns this bichir...he had like 40 pics of the fish since juvy. i don't remember the site and can't find it at the moment, not sure if its the same site you went to. if it is, the owner probably consolidated some of the pics...i think i have saved some of the earlier pics on my comp, i'll find them and you'll see. but in the meantime, its without a doubt a weeksii just from the pics you posted alone. its head tells all.

If you could find those pics of this at juvy that'd be rad. cuz it's either a senegal or petsmart sold me a weeksii cuz that looks just like my lovable Trogdor. Not arguing mind you, I would just love to believe I got a weeksii for dirt cheap!

*edit* okay so you're right. there definitely are markings of some sort in that third pic in the reflection. I officially feel like a heel.
