Hey yall, I have a dehumidifier set up in my room and because of poor planning I have to do some gymnastic like moves to get it to a place where I can dump the water 2 times a day. It just so happens to also be near a tank. Can anyone see anything going wrong if I use the dehumidifier water in water changes? I'd dechlorinate it like normal.

The way I'm seeing this is that the water came from the tank originally and was just pulled from the air so I don't see anything wrong with it.

I honestly thought that there was basically no chance of anyone having asked that question before :/. Looks like I was wrong :p. But it's a good thing it was asked before, other wise it could have gone badly. Looks like I'll just dump it into a bucket I keep by the tank and syphon it out when I do water changes

Twice a day? Jeebus, I live in SW Florida, I don't use a DH but if I did, I doubt that much water is in the air. Do you by chance, live in the Amazon?

Why? Are you planning to chlorinate it just so you can then dechlorinate it?

My dehumidifier needs to be emptied about daily, but it's cold here. If it was hot I could see twice daily easily. 3 times/day at rated conditions based on the 30 liter per day rating and 10ish liter reservoir. Actually...Mine needs emptied now...Ok, done. :)

I'm skeptical of the claims about significant contamination from the air, heavy metals, etc. We pump air into tanks all the time without any real worry about air contamination, the air going into the dehumidifier should be filtered so dust etc won't be a real problem. All the condenser fins and internal bits are usually either plastic, aluminum or stainless steel.

Nicotine and "exotic" herbs may present a problem, here.

No "exotic herbs" and defiently (?) No nicotine lol.
Hey bacon, you're just a hot skip and a throw away from me, georgia :D

Now that I think of it, isn't it a bit weird that dehumidifier companies don't market towards aquarists? Like at least a little bit but they still don't even do that. You would think that people who's hobby is basically keeping boxes of water would be a target audience...
