Currently have a 125 with 3 f1 Peru oscars, yellow bullhead catfish, and a common pleco. I plan to take out one Oscar (slightly deformed and trying to pair up) and I would like to add some other fish. Tank is filtered by 3 ac110's (could always add a forth if needed) with sponge and biomax and it's bare bottom so it stays clean. So I was thinking a green terror, escondo, and a jag. Might upgrade to a 180 one day too.

There are no guarantees but its worth a try. If they're all similar size and growing out with plenty of hiding spots it could work out fine.

^^ Agree, you never know if it will work unless you try.

I should note that the oscars are about 8-9" along with the catfish...the 3 new ones I was looking at jeff rapps site and they are 4-4.5". Too big for mouths of the current fish. I don't think my o's are agressive...but they have only been with other o's and the cat. I grew 5 out and got a pair (in another tank) these are the 3 left and one will go. So the 2 that I think that would be most agressive would be small.

It could definetly work with the right fish my friend had that same mix in place of the escondido he had a JD and firemouth, the whole mix was in a 75 gallon with 2 penguin 350s and a Fluval 405. The key is ample filtration and water changes when needed.

I am not so worried about the water...I have 8 tanks running I always am doing waterchanges lol.

Scratch the jag...im going with a fredi. I just need to decided now if I want the one 6" fredi jeff rapps has or get a 4" one. I am leaning to the 6" one I guess...its from the same batch as the 4-4.5" ones he has I believe...its just the biggest of the batch.

The escondido and green terror are 4-4.5" size.

What are the dimensions of the tank? I know you said 6' so 18" wide 24"tall or something close to that im assuming? Are you planning on keeping these fish in that tank for life? If I read the op correctly your total stocking will be x2 Os, a yellow head cat, a pleco, jag, gt and a texas. I think you will have a hard time with this in a 125. The 180 would be much better but I would put this stocking in a standard 240.

Here is my reasons: A Jag will get just as big if not bigger then those Oscars. So as far as keeping the mass in your tank the same (one for one swap) the jag for the O makes sense but the temperament in the jag will probably be more aggressive especially when full grown. Every fish has its own temperament regardless of the average temperament of its species but it generally stays somewhere in the ballpark of that average. With that said. Jags tend to get more aggressive in their later years. As for adding the GT and the Texas. You might find that they do not get along at all. The dynamic of the tank might keep them from fighting because of the larger fish. The GT can get up to 11"-12" by its self so you're looking at a larger fish there too. All full grown you're looking at 2 9-12" and 3 12"-16" fish in a 125 not including the cat or the pleco. Assuming you get lucky, and all the temperaments workout, you will need to be doing allot water changes and running tons of filtration or your nitrates will skyrocket and you will be risking the health of those fish.
Hopefully this is of some help to you. I hope that what ever you decided to do it works out for you. Good luck!

Edit: I just read the post you snuck in while I was typing this long "book". I think losing the jag is a good Idea. You going with a male fredi? Will work better but I still think I would go with your idea of the 180 at full growth at least. But with the smaller sizes it should work for a while

Correct I suck the freddie (male) in rather than the jag. I thought the jag would be the iffy one from that bunch. And Jeff has freddies too so it works out.

Yes standard 125 gal 6x18x2osomething tall. I am not sure if I would try to keep them for good in this tank or not. I plan to get a 180 in my tank room sooner or later and could always move them. I think it might work for now since the new ones are smaller (and probably more aggressive) and I can just see how it goes. I got a few other tanks not set up yet so I can always move things around. I just want a fun fish tank not a breeding one (like my others).

As for the water quality...there's 3 ac110's now and could add a 4th...but I do wonder about the nitrates. I usually am doing water changes once a week already with all my other tanks. Aging I can see how it goes.

Would you go for a 6" fredi or the 4" range like the others.

Cool, sounds like you have a good plan for it goes south. As for the freddi... there is pros and cons for ether way but if your going to introduce him by himself into an established tank. It might be better to get him a tad bit larger so I would go with 6". On the other hand you might want to watch out for aggression after he settles in. He will own for a bit I would think. All that matters, in my opinion, is that you try what you think might work and be ready if it doesn't. So I say go 6"

My friends tank had all those fish I mention at close to full size, Oscars~13", Jaguar~15", JD~9", GT~10", Firemouth~6", Blood Parrot~5", and 2 common plecos~12" and 8". But it really depends on the individual's temperment, he also had all those fish purchased at one time when they were close to 1-2". Really the bigger tiger oscar kept the peace in the tank, and his Jag was kind of a push over. Now as far as the Freddie Id go with the 6" one because your adding him to an already established tank soo that bigger size will keep him from getting punked by the Oscars hopefully.
