Could this potentially be the start of a fade?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don’t think it looks like fading
I guess let’s see if his body starts to turn black and his fins
As for now my guess is no

Thank you for the reply I hope he isn't going to fade I love his colours as he is, only thing is I'm not sure what it could be as I say it's just appeared randomly.

Could just be a bit of bruising. Maybe he knocked his head on something and it wasn't enough to break skin but caused a bruise instead.

Oh I never even thought of that, I've been playing with one of my filter returns just recently to try and get it out of his way maybe he's hit that there's not a lot of out else he can hit his head on.

I just imagined if it was a bruse it would be red lol

How long dose stuff like this take to heal do ya know never had a bruised fish befor.

Generally it can take anywhere for 1 day to a couple of weeks depending on how badly it was bruised. As for the color of it that's probably just because ya didn't see it when it was still fresh, a fresh bruise will be more red to pink in color while after an hour or so it'll turn a dark purple to almost black in color. It's just the blood under the skin that died so it loses its red color over time since it's getting no more oxygen.

Granted if the color persists after a couple of weeks then it may just be that something is going on with the skin pigmentation. Regardless of the spot tho he is a very nice looking FH.

I'll keep my eye on it and hopefully it will pass or not get bigger at least.

Thank you very much ? I'm very much in love with him.

He's had this black mark on his head for anout a week now. No sign of any damage at all its just there and doesn't seem to be going away.

What exactly is fade? I really don’t know but own a young flowerhorn of my how about 1.5” now and color and markings are coming in amazingly the fish I bought for 7$ most definitely should have been a lot more money. Has 3 maybe 4
Pearls on him too and they’re all surrounded by the same color blue as your fh. Hope the bruise or whatever it is heals up soon. Also just a random 3AM thought... do you think you could eat the kok of a flowerhorn.

I've only kept one fader,I thought it was dying when I first noticed it lol.The fading stated with pink spots and his/her(I didn't vent it but it didn't develop a kok so it might have been a female) blues peeling. That just looks like a bruise to me ,the last one I had used to pick fights with the powerhead and bump his hump on the intake all the time. They heal up fast.
