Ok top texas is a Texas with Red texas Hybrid gene. So that means if you breed it with a BP then you'll get pure Red Texas babies and a couple iffy ones. The second " Texas" is not a Texas at all it's a Carpinte and by the looks of it I am going to say Escondido race. They get VERY aggrseeive with age. Oh and both are males. You do have a Loisellei there. You festaes face could have the starting point of leisions. This is very bad. I don't really know how to cure but I would say add some salt along with a temperature rise up to 86 degrees.

thank you very much. what is a bp? guessing blood parrot. if so how do i determine a female bp cause i sure will go out and get one if i can get some red texas fry. the festea has about 3 of those white balls or tubes on each side of his head. Im thinking i should pull him out and put him by himself and treat with fungus meds as well as salt but will do nothing until someone is sure what going on with him.. thx again

If they are ball or tube shaped they are probably a parasite embedded into the scales of the fish. I am not sure how to sex BP's but someone else might. My guess at sexing would be like any other cichlid if it's a male the vent tube should be a pointy shape and with a female much larger vent and roundish shape.

That looks to me like a big parasite problem. How long has she had it? Is she acting differently than the normal? Are any of your other fish showing signs of it and how are they acting as far as normal to not?

its a male and im not sure how long they been there. hes always in his cave and i just noticed it today. all my other fish seem fine.

I put him in a 10 gallon for quarenteen and added the salt. should i add some melafix or fungus med or just leave the salt until i can go get some parisite meds tommorrow?
