I'd been holding out for a while, but always kept my eyes peeled for a nice Midas/RD at my LFS. After drooling at some of the beauties on this site, I finally ran into some luck and found him/her yesterday. He/she is around 6" and has some great potential. The only minor issue, his/her left eye (see pic 3) has some noticeable (yet limited) clouding. It's vision seems to be fine, and other than that is in very good health. I've increased the temp to 84F and treated the tank with salt. I'm hoping this was the result of a recent trauma and/or poor water quality issue in its previous tank. I shuffled some things around so that this guy has his own 90G (along with a BNP). I am very meticulous about my tanks, and perform 30-50% weekly wc's (along with heavy filtration). Would love some feedback thoughts on both the fish and his/her eye issue. I've decided to name it "Stevie" after one of my favorite students. Thanks!

Beautiful fish, I love midevils with similar creamsicle colorations. The eye doesn't look too bad, if it still looks cloudy in a week or so I would start looking into causes.

Thanks! I decided to half-dose some Melafix as well. I'm hoping it's something that clears up in a week or so.

not only is the color great but i love the body/head shape looks like a white and orange dovii lol. i had to say that but very nice fish

and yea ur water quality seems to be on point, very clean water. he should be fine i had a 3 inch green terror got his a** wooped by my dempsey upon putting him in he had nasty cloudy eyes and couldnt see and in weeks he was fine eyesight back and all that.plus ur new fish is in his own tank wich is good no stress for him

great looking fish

Very stunning amp! The raised temp, melafix and his own tank should fix the cloudy prob which looks minor! He does look to be more Midas than midevil IMO. His body doesn't really have the lower profile often seen in those. But we all know how hybridized these fish can be, either way he's def a great looking fish with some awesome coloration!
