You need to show me more paratilapia in the african thread :)

Bartonis get my vote for best breeding dress. Simply amazing.

Yes I just threw the Paratilapia in as an intro to those unfamiliar. To me Paratilapia act and appear more like a Central/South American than an African.
About half the asfraci are turning out well, the other half are mutated, and I have heard that from another aquarist that also picked some of them up.
Not blaming anyone, I find it fairly common for mutations to occur in large spawns, and not to present until a bit later in life.
I should probably create my own frankenfish out of them, just like blood parrot, but I find the concept cruel.
Here are a few distorted ones.

none of the above have grown well, in fact the one in the last pick has barely grown at all, I don't know how it eats.

Most of the deformities are the jaw, and mouth.
From what I hear, many of the people that got them have the same ratio of those mutations.
And they were all approx 0.5" when we got them.
I think it's more likely that the gene pool from a small number of imported original specimens has led to too much in breeding. An adult I had 10 years ago, had a similar deformity, yet not as severe.
Though another theory out there, is not enough iodine in the diet.

Great looking nano!!! Good pics like this should get more people to get them.
