I 'rescued' the big guy from an LFS as he was being beaten up by a bigger Jag! Will the top fins ever regrow? The other fin damage he had is healing nicely and his been growing everyday, I got him a month ago, but the top fins are missing a couple of chunks that have not changed a bit, is there anything I can do to get them growing?

Can you sex the small one?

first ones looks to be a female (75% sure, but kind of small to sex), bottom one is 100% male. Hope you can get them to pair off, nice fish. The fins should heal back but if they haven't progressed by now they may never. Try using melafix, warm water, and salt to treat them.
 
I once had a Jag that basically had it's tail fin bitten off. Rays and all...and it grew back. So it might. Good Luck.
 
It should definately grow back. I have had fish that had no fins left and they all grew back. They just grow back crooked because they are never mean't to be ripped off if you know what I mean. However my male jag has a deformity in his anal fin in which it is an open gap between two rays of the fin. It makes him unique and I think he still the best I have ever seen in PERSON not online lol.
 
Yeah my Jag has a knick on the dorsal fin inflicted by the Dovii. It was a smaller wound than that one and it didn't grow back right but not very noticable. Your Jag is younger so maybe it will heal easier.
 
my vote is with it will def grow back. Salt and heat should help.
 
My male festae got a chunk of his dorsal bitten off by the female (shes crazy). It hasnt grown back and its been a while, from what i hear spiny dorsal and anal fins wont if they're broken off.
