couple questions bout gulper cats!

thanx to onions01 for his great gulper catfish description and to basslover34... i now own 1 male n 1 female gulper cats... just a few questions tho...
first for the feeding... do i feed them until they stop accepting? they wont over eat until they die right?!
also r the males usually a lot more active than the females?!

Sorry for missing your post here, hope the Gulpers are doing well

You don't really need to worry about over feeding with them. they are pretty good at stretching out to accomidate any sized meal LOL

If you feed them alot though you should hold off from feeding them again till they slim back down to a normal size.

That's not a good idea. I feed my gulpers one jumbo shrimp each, every other day. You should not over feed them its not good for them. Just because their stomach expands does not mean you should fill them up as big as possible at every feeding.

mines around 9" gets fed every 2-3 days on a few sprats and a bit of scollop or mussle.

i feed mine every week most of the time. he hides in a decor cave i have. if he comes out i know hes hungry so i feed him but if he never comes out i dont feed him. he usually comes out every 7 days then eats and hides again. i feed him cooked mussels
