ok i have a couple questions... i'll be in daytona beach from feb/23 - mar/1

1st question is is there any good aquarium stores around that area i always like checking out new stores

2nd question is there any public aquariums around my 2 year old loves fish i would love to show hims some rays , sharks , ect

3rd is there any place to fish for pbass around daytona ??

what else do you recommend us to do as a family were staying 2 miles from ponce inlet lighthouse

Well, as far as Aquariums go, you can't really beat Sea World. Its about an hour's drive from Daytona. There may be smaller public aquariums closer to Daytona, but I don't know of any offhand. Although there was (years ago, don't know if its still there) a surf shop with a shark in a huge tank. I think it was Maui Nix, but it may have been one of the other bigger surf shops on the main strip.

Fishing For PeaBass isn't gonna happen that far north. you'd need to travel south to Dade county. Probably about a 4 hour drive from Daytona. There are plenty of Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Gar in more local water, though. Catfish seem hard to come by (at least for me). When I go fishing for Catfish here in northern FL, I catch Bullhead and Gar, not much else.

Ponce Inlet is one of the best surf spots in Florida (if you're into surfing). Pretty pathetic (I used to surf in Cali), but it is one of the best in Florida.

If you could get your hands on some heavy duty tackle, the inlet (river mouth) is full of Bull Sharks. That would be one a hell of a catch.

Other than that, Kennedy Space Center is around an hour drive from there. Who knows, there could be a rocket launch scheduled for the time you're there. If not, there is still a museum and all that other tourist stuff I've never done.

Have fun. Florida is Awesome!. Another thing you could do is take a drive to one of the little spring-fed rivers around here. Rainbow River and Jenny Springs are two of the ones I'm most familiar with. The water is around 72 all year long. its crystal clear, and there are fish (including Gar), turtles, alligators, birds, and all kinds of other wildlife to enjoy. Canoes or inner tubes are the best modes of transport down those rivers.
