If GSPs get to 6 inches, howcome Ive never seen pics of adults? They always seem to be in the 2 inch range. Anybody have pics of a big GSP? I have seen pics of the 'giant spotted puffer', but they look noticeably different.

Has anybody ever fed a mantis shrimp to their puffers? I went down to the LFS today to grab some snails, and I saw a 1 inch mantis resting at the top of the live rock tank, so I scooped him up and they gave him to me for free. I cut his claws off and threw him in with the puffers, who almost instantly killed him, but only ate the eyes and most of the legs. Any guesses why? Ive seen puffers demolish big crayfish, I thought mine would be happy to destroy their first live food item, but I guess not.

Can GSPs or Figure 8s get along with dragon gobies? Apparently they filter feed off the bottom, so maybe they would help clean up the bloodworms and pieces of krill the puffers leave behind. Plus they look pretty damn cool to boot.

Also, how much do Mbus cost? I'd like one in the (unfortunately) far future, but I cant even seem to find one for sale to get a good guess on prices.

Thanks!

Also, are mealworms a good hard-shelled treat to keep their teeth down? And mine aren't big fans of krill, any other frozen food suggestions? Bloodworms aren't their favorite, but thats all I got at the moment.

Sorry for the double post, trying to knock out all my questions once and for all :)

cant truely tell if they will be ok with them, its all dependent on the specific puffers personality. i think i read somewhere to stay away from meal worms, so i have never tried them on my puffers. mine LOVE frozen blood worm cubes, frozen mussell cubes, they have picked apart pieces of a silverside i put in for my starfish, they like live blackworms, not too big of fans of krill. they will bite it then run for some reason and not want it again after that til i put it in the next time then its the same thing all over again. crabs, crayfish, and snails are your best bet for teeth trimming. i just read recently that you should NOT give them the "ice cream cone" shaped snails as their shell is probably too hard for the puffers teeth and could break their teeth. mine love chasing and eating ghost shrimp, the pet store i go to has both salt and fresh water ghost shrimp. but even before i saw the salt water ones i just threw in the fresh water ones since they were food anyway, and some lasted a week, if not a little longer going straight into my tank that was high brackish at the time.

I think i read some where before that meal worms aren't the best diet for puffers due to their waxy outter shell that can be hard to digest for puffers, but also Krill isn't exactly the best meal either since its been known to cause lockjaw in Puffers...

Best choices would be Shrimp, Mussels, Scallops and things like that...
