1. what are some good plecos for a 29 gallon? Prefer it to be relatively easy to care for. They would be for my wife's tank at school and kids love "sucker fish." I was thinking a bristlenose or rubberlip maybe? (not a pleco expert). are there any other good plecs for a tank that size?

2. would L330 be a good choice for a pleco in an 180 gallon? Saw one at the LFS and loved it (and I am not a huge pleco fan) but didn't to buy it without talkin to the experts lol.

Thank you for your time

1. You didn't mention the inhabitants, but assuming it's a tropical tank, any of the ancistrus species are suitable for a 29 gal. Bristlenose are the most commonly available.

2. Again, without knowing the other inhabitants, there's plenty of room in a 180 for an L330. They are herbivores and like most panaque, also graze on the bacteria growth on driftwood. This is an essential part of their diet. Make sure to provide lots of driftwood. Like any big panaque, they produce a lot of waste so ensure filtration is adequate.

I agree. The bristlenose would be a good choice for the smaller tank. I haven't had much luck with the rubberlip. They're cute but just never survive in my tank. The bristlenose is definitely a good worker (as I have one in my smaller tank). Shouldn't reach over 6" or so I believe.

clown knife, fire eel, red bay snook, severum, oscar

the cichlids are extremely peaceful. fire eel and knife leave everyone alone unless they are fighting over a worm

I have tons of driftwood

and tons of filtration as does any oscar owner lol.

L330 would be bomb in a 180!

also, i'd go for the rubber lip. children would like the stubbiness of it lol.
*edit* partially what helped me get my Xanto...hehe

Do you have access to L010a? They are very cute red whiptails growing no more than 4 inches. They're very passive. I'd give them a shot if I were you.
