Couple Questions

My first question is about changing my substrate I made the mistake of buying white gravel and now I am hating because it just looks disgusting now and I want to know of any tips on how quick I should change it the new substrate will be Black Diamond sand from tractor supply. My second question is how to make a trickle tower for a 20 gallon tank as in how big of a pump and amount of media needed.

Ps also would like to know about how much sand I should use for a 20 gallon tank.

The stock right now is 1 4" Largemouth Bass for a month then it will be
20 tetras and 5 panda corys
 
Here is the best pic I have right now I will have to take more soon. This one was 2 days after I put him in there now the gavel has algae and poop all over it.

Biggest thing is that the sand needs to be cleaned really really well as it will have lots of small particles in the water when you put it in. How deep so you want the sand to be? Look online and they have allot of sand depth calculators for sand boxes. I would guess about 15 pounds worth. I don't really know the size of a 20g tank but that should be close. I would take all the gravel out give everything some time to filter and clear up then put sand in slowly add it in wet also not dry.

Alright thanks for the response I will try that I think I am going to do 20 pounds of sand.

Has anyone ever made a mini sump or trickle tower?
