Here are a couple quick pics of my female bellycrawler. She doesn't come out a lot when I'm in the room, or she hides as soon as I approach the tank. She has claimed this broken clay pot as her cave, and vigorously defends it against anybody else that thinks about getting close...

She's not my favorite pike that I've owned, but she's definitely growing on me, as I'm down to just her and a male alta in another tank.

I'd love a male. What's insane is that up until I got this female, every dang LFS in town had bellycrawlers out the wazoo. Now that I've got her, know she's a female, and want to find a male for her, not a single store in town has any . Go figure.


I'm suffering from serious pike withdrawal right now. The male alta killed the female, I got rid of my lepidota pikes months ago, I've had 2 ven's and 3 johanna's killed, and I got rid of my prized 12-13" venezuelan like 2 months ago.

I think I need to set up a 55g or something just for a couple smaller pikes so that I can get back into them. Or maybe get another couple ven's and grow them out together... sigh.

i know how you feel. my sveni killed my punctata "blue 33" within a day i was devastated so i sold my sveni. i ended up getting the 2 BCs and both turned out to be males grrr i wish i had gotten one of john's pikes. i'm hoping to find something a little more special in the future. i'd love an acutirostris, i'll keep dreaming

If you want to make your way up to dayton one day I will sell you some... I have a grow out of nothing but pike (6 Vens and 2 jos that I am going to keep)and then the xingu II (9 inches)I will probably sell. I am gonna order some lents.
