I noticed after I put my new african knife in the tank that it has a couple white spots. Now I've seen it flashing a couple times.
So far, the heater has been turned up a bit.

Its just a couple visible spots. Should I just raise the heater and wait? I don't have a convenient way to quarantine.
The other fish in the tank are: Congo tetras, african butterfly fish, bichirs, reedfish.

I've read that african knifefish should be treated as scaleless fish.

Use salt and increase heat to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. There are instructions in my sticky thread, Freshwater Disease Guide. Look at ich section for salt treatment. Dosage total is 3 teaspoons per gallon but start with a teaspoon per gallon first and add the last two sets at 12 hour interval. Dissolve first before adding.

And my african knife fish will be alright with the salt?

I have a couple days to think about it before the cysts lay eggs and the eggs hatch. The heat is on 82 now, I didn't want to speed them up too much before I could figure out a treatment that's acceptable to a knife fish.

Can you post pics?? BTW ich looks like little white pimples........

I can't get a good enough picture for you but I'm pretty sure its ich.

I added an 18w uv sterilizer with a brand new uvc bulb to the tank. I'm running it at about 250gph. I think I'll just wait it out now. Once the cysts lay their eggs and the eggs hatch, most of the hatched parasites should be destroyed by the UV light before they attach to fish.
My other fish are all healthy, so I think they'll be able to fight off one or two parasites.
