Hi
I have a 300gal plex with a blue back.. some time when my GATF get spooked they run into the side of the tank.. I was told if I put some color on the side they will not run in to the sides as much... will that work .. it makes sense to me since the sides look like mirrors..I would assume they think the tank keeps going .

thanks for reading .

yes, and they only look like mirrors wen u look at them through the front panel, i forget what effect it is called, your fish sees what you see when you look straight through the glass.

o i never thought of that... u just used plants... and my GATF still hits the sides of the tank sometimes... ill try the color thing... but then that limits you view also

haha, would you think then the goliath will move to avoid swimming straight into another goliath...haha... like the bird flying into the mirror... :)

my old goliath was about 8" and i had blue back and sides tank. it didn't help. when spooked, it will still run straight into the side at full speed.

i think this is the reason why people recommend big tank. its not because of the size of the fish but also the room it needs to avoid this.

it wont completely stop it but it may cause the fish to turn sooner than if it were to run full force into a clear pane. it also depends on the fish.

Are you saying the fish can't see out?

If so then I beg to differ. Why do you think they go nuts when they see you come in the room and beg for food?

They can see out just fine. Stick you head in the water and check it out. :D

well I got my project for the weekend, they are only 5 " and 8 ' to swim
not enough ,,, I better start working on their large tank I plan on building in spring .....

how many GATF in one tank and fish and tank size ?? I have three and one 6" ATF (V) ........

where does it say that i said they can't see out? i said they have the same viewing reference as us when we look through a single pain. i explained to him that it seems like a mirror when u look at the side panel through the front panel.

I asked a question then said, "if so". "If not" then what I replied does not apply.

But since they are inside a glass box how can they see the side panel looking through the front panel ?
