ok my pair of con have breed and have baby the babys are about a 2 -3 weeks old will the pair breed again while they have baby in side the tank or should i remove the babys

By removing the fry within 3-4 days after they become free swimming, I was able to spawn my convicts every 3.5 weeks. You must also have adiquate hiding for the female so she can recover and get ready to breed again.

What is your tank setup?

Depends, do you want to watch the parent fish raise the babies........
really cute watching them herd them around tank and tuck them in at night.
Or are you after feeders/mass amounts of fry ?

Remove to speed up next batch.
Leave in to allow nature to run course.
My cons will lay eggs with older fry in tank.
Not good for the older fry will eat the younger fry.

I remove them after swimming good and off bottom completely.
Hard to catch after they get older !
I spent ForEver the other day trying to remove the last batch from one of my pairs ! Chasing hundreds of tiny fry around with siphon hose Sucks !
End up messing up tank and stressing parents.

mine layed eggs about 2 weeks after my fry were free swimming, and they were still in the tank, unfortuantly i lost power and most of the fry died along with the eggs. But from my experiance, they will lay more eggs while they have fry in the tank, and then they will start eating fry.

Interesting, first I've heard of this happening. I've had 6 different breeding pairs of cons over the last couple of years and never had this happen. Always seeing people having different experiences, I guess this is what makes MFK what it is.:)

I think they will be OK for a while with frequent water changes, you need to figure out what you are gonna do with all your convict fry though. 1/2" and under they make good feeders, once they start getting bigger they are quite cunning and become escapees.
