So I bought the CPR CS90 but I cant find PVC fittings that fit on the threads. 1.5"- too big. 1.25"- too small. It looks like they want you to put a 1" pipe on the inside of the bulkhead, but the only way I would be comfortable with that is by gluing it. Not a fan of that option as I'd like it to be removeable. Thoughts/opinions on this from anyone with experience on these?

The threads on the outside of the bulkhead are for the bulkhead lock nut only. The threads on the inside are what is used and if the threaded fitting is properly prepped using teflon tape, there will be no problems with leakage. If that is not good enough, you could use plumbers pipe dope but it may be an issue with the substance getting into the water.
All my bulkheads are the threaded type and I have never had issue with leaks. The bulkheads on the overflow, like the ones on my CS202 aren't under pressure and therfore, leaking there would be very unlikely.

No threads on the inside. I expected usable threads to be somewhere on the bulkhead. Looks like I'm going to have to glue in 1" PVC. Would much rather have gone the threaded/Teflon tape route!

just cut a 3.5" length of 1" ID PVC, clue it in and get a slip x thread adapter for the end of the pipe or better yet, a coupler so you can remove it and use it later. They may make a slip x thread style union or ball valve online. You'll have to look and see.

I use true union ball valves which serve the same purpose but allow you to turn off any water flow while you switch things around. I never hard plumb my setups but there are always pieces like this that require some hard plumbing.

I use a CPR on one of my tanks, no problem with leaks, I use an O ring jammed in to provide stability inside the box, and as boldtogether stated, a bulkhead nut on the outside.
