I think this pic is of the fire-even though the eye mark is black not red. The fires have those strange red dots down the back end of their body, they have the exact same shape tear drop. The cf. on kutty's site looks like a lent and nothing like this guy (it actually might be the red strigata we've been discussing) and the Lugubris Atabapo has no markings as an adult and is pinkish all over. I think the above is a male fire.
 
Yes, the above fish is a fire pike. Note the huge, dark tear under the eye and Hadrian is correct about the red dots on the side.

The fish you are referring to Taz is the Atabapo version of lugubris. In fact, it should be called Cr. sp. cf. lugubris "Atabapo".

Since the fire pike appears to be it's own, unique, unammed species, Cr. sp. "Atabapo" fits it better.
 
Scat, any thoughts on the pic Taz posted as opposed the the one you posted?
