I have this idea in my crazy mind. I want to do this crazy african biotype.
I want to get a bunch of african animals all in one enclosure, what do you think this would cause?
I have in mind throwing in like 6 emperor scorpions, a bunch of little african cichlids, some african clawd frogs, and a lungfish in the pond.
maybe some little turtles or a sand boa? i was thinkin, why not, cause alot of people i know, or have talked to said they feed there monitors turtles and frogs, and some even snakes on ocasion.. so what you think?
idk about the snake or turtles, but scorpions?
hmmm

You could do scorpions, turtles, some africans

With that many animals you're bound to have at least a few of them killed/eaten relatively quickly.

thats the point, i want it as natural as possible for my monitor(s)
I want the most variety of food they can get, i'm pretty sure rats get boring for them, I already have buckets full of worms, snails and other insects in the soil and on the logs/branches and plants inside the enclosure..

what sort of turtle you think i should get? the only thing i can get with out too much of a price, is common red ears, pianteds, and softshells..

If you care about your lizard I would take scorpions off the list first off. It could be cool to watch it eat one, not so cool if in the process it gets stung. Snakes will be pricey feeders, so unless you have the cash to spend on them, then those should be out too. Same deal with turtles. Not sure if you're thinking about using the lungfish as a feeder or trying to keep it alive, but if it's the former, same story. Just be thinking about this all in terms of cost - it might be cool to have an enclosure with all those animals, but if you expect your lizard to keep eating all of the other ones then it will become extremely costly to maintain the way you want.

i'm not talking snakes and turtles every day, i'm talking a once monthly treat or something every now and then. not too worried about the scorpion stings, as they are pretty resistant to most natural toxins, and venoms.. I have money for this, i'm just seeing if it would even matter, if they ate other things or not?

I wouldnt try feeding turtles. It could end up injuring the monitor, and would end up with a turtle with ton off legs slowly bleeding to death in the cage.

A large lungfish could take a foot or tail off pretty easily if it was hanging in the water or something like that.

I've always thought it would be kind of neat to have an aviary with a monitor, and a bunch of house sparrows. They probably wouldnt pay much attention to it, they are invasive, so taking them out of the wild helps (in the US at least), and they are very easy to catch with traps and whatnot.

Dunno if you need a hunting license though.

any experts on this thing, sounds like a good idea to me, minus the lungfish and the snakes
