Hi i'm thinking about getting some small crabs to put in my tank and was wondering what kind of fish can be put in with them. I'm wondering mainly about them in a small tank such as 5-10 gallon..but how would they get along with cichlids in a 55?

Crabs are infamous for killing fish. Be carefull if you decide to mix them. If the fish are to small the crab will eat or injure them. If the fish are to big the crabs will get eaten. I'm sure there is a good comb out there just be carefull.

It depends on the crabs you're wanting to add. If fiddlers (most common), no. They need areas to get out of the water to dry land. They are marvelous escape artists as well, so you will need to keep the water level pretty far down for them.

for fidlers you can just have a bit rope hanging from the top of the aquarium or a bit bog would and a tight cover .if you want the rope to look good you can rap moss in the rope, looks good .

I have a horrible experience with 3 crabs in a Cichlid tank. They are truly escape artists. I did everything I could, including covering all holes with plastic screen mesh (the kind for screen doors), taking out all high plants, and moving all rock to below 5 inches below water level and I still found them taking a walk around my living room daily. There was no interaction between them and Cichlids, at all. Ironically, I finally put them in a tuperware container about 3" high with some water and rocks and they never even tried to get out. No more crabs for me.
