Absolutely crushed....

Found this last night on the bottom corner. Appears to have started from corner and is working up.

That chip or "shell" in the corner might or might not be a problem in itself, depending upon how deep into the glass it goes. But that entire vertical seam seems to be giving way. Is that what you are referring to as "working up"?

I can't help but think that this is being caused by a tank that is not evenly supported all the way around. If the surface upon which it rests is not perfectly flat, i.e. if it is twisted in any way or has any imperfections or debris that apply pressure to the tank, that seam might be subjected to a lot of twisting force that might cause that damage.

I'm no expert, just a guy who has built...and wrecked...a lot of tanks over the years. I must say that if that tank were in my house I would be draining it sooner rather than later. I don't like the looks of that seam at all.

Just referring to the "shell" (seems to be the best word for it!) The seems have looked like that since I got the tank in January. Seems to be a bit of bubbling?

Tank is currently a "180" and I'm picking up a Rubbermaid tub on the way home tonight. My cat sleeps near the tank and thats my biggest concern currently other than my stock in the tank.

So that seam has always looked like that? It still makes me nervous, much more so than the shell peeling off.

Can't tell much from that last picture. That's the same corner seen from the other angle, 90 degrees from the first shots? If yes, it looks like the shell is only a tiny fraction of the thickness of the glass. It also seems as though that frame (aluminum) that wraps around the bottom has a rounded inside corner, and that the glass is sitting on that rounded portion, which would put a lot of stress on the corner of the glass and might cause that and similar shells to crack off. Just guessing here.

Surprisingly Aqueon has reached out and believes the "clamshell" is likely due to impact and at this size and placement doesn't present any structural concerns.

I would be able to use my onetime replacement under the lifetime warranty now if I wanted but wasnt advised and confirmed my warranty is still valid as long as I have a receipt or digital copy. Planning on having a steel stand fabed with leveling foam.
