been running this tank for a month or so now but it was given to me from my uncle and hes had it for quite some time (approx. 10 years). i noticed this crack in it today, its cracked on the back panel but hasnt spread. i am wondering should i be concerned about it and how should i go about sealing it? the tank is glass and i do have silicone to seal it with.

top is outside shot.

the big glass box thats full of water has a crack in it and you are wondering if you should be concerned :screwy:

YES!

i cant tell from the pic if its a crack or a chip.. either way its not something i would keep up and running in my house..
if its a chip.. it might be fine forever.. or it might crack in the next 30 seconds
if its a crack.. the crack will spread.. again it may last forever or it might go in 30 seconds... theres no way to tell.. but at somepoint the water will end up on the floor along with the fish..

as far as fixing it.. just like a windshield it has to be replaced... depending on what size tank it is it might be cheaper/easyer to just replace the tank..

for real ..he's right ..g/l with your tank ..how big is that tank?

33g. upon further review i would consider it a chip. however still concerned about it.

That is something that you should pursue at your own risk. You can leave it or you can buy a new tank. There is not much you can do to repair it.
