Can I use silicone to seal it (will it bond) or is there something else that would work better?

yesterday someone posted that they had an AC110 that was making a lot of noise.... I wonder if they would send you the noisey one and you could put your quiet parts in it and then you would be all good.

I repaired an AC70 with this stuff called 'Goop'. It's basically silicone mixed with a sealant. I got it at home depot.

Thanks, so it's safe and won't release any toxins in the water?

No it will kill everything in the aquarium...

Some people need to learn the hard way I guess.

This is from their website.
Don’t use Amazing GOOP on items that come into contact with your household pets or animals, such as aquariums.
Don’t use Amazing GOOP on items that come into contact with food or drinking water, such as your dishes.
Don’t use Amazing Goop on your dry cleaning. The dry cleaning solvent breaks down the adhesive.
Don’t use Amazing GOOP on styrofoam or polystyrene (because it will cause them to dissolve), or on polyethylene or polypropylene plastics (because it will not adhere well).

As for the crack, I am not all that sure it can be repaired without actually replacing that one section of glass.

AC filters don't have glass pieces, it's plastic.

Must be coincidence that nothing in my tank has yet to show any signs of stress, death, etc....

granted I let it dry a full 48 hrs before using in in my aquarium (AC filter, UV sterilizer), but it has been perfectly fine ever since.

I have used epoxy and a piece of acrylic for reinforcement. No dead fish yet. I do not trust the epoxy or silicon on its own. You can use the silicon in between the the two pieces of plastic. you will have to wait awhile for the silicon to cure since it is not exposed to air it will take longer than what you may be expecting.

i would use aquarium silicone, i used it on a eheim 2028 i bought that got damaged in shipping, and it held nicely, and since its aquarium silicone it should be safe... :)
