I got a free 150 gallon glass tank with a cracked bottom. The previous owner took a piece of glass and sandwiched it over the crack on bottom with silicone. He has used it for 3 years like that with no problem. However I don't trust it and want to replace the bottom all together. When I do it I plan to move the overflow to the corner (currently in the middle of tank) and possibly an overflow in both back corners. I know i need a good brace to replace on the bottom and found someone on line that will custom make braces and overflows to spec. Any comments and suggestions to keep the bottom from falling out and leaking everywhere would be greatly appreaciated.

I just replaced the glass in a 220. It's a pain, but worth it :o) Are you going glss overflows? If so, try to find a wholesale glass dealer, and they'll cut the pieces, then just silicone them together. That's what I did. I also had a buddy of mine weld my tank braces, and I have a piece of foam insulation under the tank to even out any abnormalities.
