Hello everyone,

Please take a look at the attached picture. Is this something to be concerned about? The plastic edge of the aquarium is showing signs of cracking. Anyone here have similar issues?

This is my second perfecto tank. My first one has the bottom completely shattered about a month ago. It's a 90 gallon perfecto of less than 2 years old.

This is getting to be too stressful of a hobby as of now.

thanks.

Let me first start by saying i have no experience with those tanks or the brand...

But judging by what you said bout your last tank, i'd be pretty worried about something similar happening... especially if the tank sits on top of the plastic base... since if the crack breaks down further and the tank topples that would be a nightmare...

But again this is coming from a person who has no experience with these tanks or the brand...

Personally, I think you are FINE. If anything you can use an adhesive to bond them. If you are really worried then use something strong like JB Weld. But some silicone should keep them together. The small side of my top trim is loose too, I don't even bond it, its been over a year already, Just think about the RIMLESS tanks.

Now if its the actual glass then I'd surely worry.

^^ Rimless tanks are made to be rimless. So you cant really say to think about rimless.

A lot of companies are going cheap to make tanks now a days unfortunately. Oceanic was recently bought out about a year back, and they started getting made different, and many of them now leak. The Pet Place, which is a large store here in PA, cut their contract with them because customers were bringing back tanks too often.

I have an older 50 gallon tall tank that I found on the side of the road.. It didn't have the back corner trim at all. I just used PL construction adhesive. It's been up and running for a year now. If you want it to match, use JB weld, and paint it.

Silicone is not an adhesive like many people think.

Its sad all the tank manufacture's going cheap.

I just had a 90 broke on me. And this is also a 90 that u see crack plastic trim.

Im waiting for perfecto to respond and will post here what they say. Meanwhile, i will go get some jb weld to take care of the crack.

Good luck with it and hopefully it all works out...

Good to hear that you know its safe...
