Cracked the side of a new 180 i got today, can it be fixed? it is cracked all the way thru on the side from top to bottom. How hard is it to cut the glass out and replace the side panel?

I'm in the process of doing the same thing on a smaller scale. If you take one panel out you have to do them all. Silicone wont bond to previously cured silicone and you'll end up with weak points in your seal. Good luck.

if its top to bottom... say good bye to the tank... its an impossible fix.. u'll have to buy that whole piece.... even if u silicon and reinforce.. u're at risk of the water pushing right down the middle of that glass...

sounds like its on the side buy the right thickness glass and the six foot by two foot dimension glass pull everything apart tape it back together with electric tape and go to town with your silicone

it is on the side panel the 2' x 2' side. Can i not cut all the silicone and clean then just replace that one pc?

Yes you can! Just replace the broken piece with a new piece. Make sure you remove ALL the old silicone that was holding it in place, clean the area of the glass where the silicone goes very well, and silicone the new piece in place. It's a piece of cake!

yeah luckily it was a side piece dodged a bullet on that one. like this guy above me said clean nicely and go to town with silicone new glass i dont believe should be about fifty or sixty bucks for that depending where you live

just silicone i would buy the cheap ge silicone for the base silicone the bottom glass plate in the new frame then tape off the glass where you dont want silicone to seep then put silicon on the inside vertical sides of the new frame. fit all your glass in tape it in place. then use the aquarium silicone for the inside probably pickup at your lfs. then do the same thing you did for the top as you did for the bottom
