I just picked up a 400w Hamilton metalhalide fixture fore $80. I was wondering if that was a good deal. One ballasts is 150w, the other is 250w would like to purchase good quality bulbs. The seller says he buys his bulbs for $10 on ebay. Not sure if they're any good for the fixture. Any suggestions on bulbs. There was only 1 bulb with the fixture. I hope it wasn't a bad deal. He was also selling a 2 bulb t-5 fixture for $60. Decided I would take a chance on the MH. I plan on getting him to sell the live rock he has left in tank for $3 lb. Nice to catch a deal if it's really a deal:D

Instead of buying bulbs from a lfs or aquarium website or something, try going to an electrical supply house. A lot of the bulbs used in the hobby are the same bulbs we use in commercial lighting. The prices are usually better. (btw I meant a true electrical supply, not home depot)

Yes it does work and I will check out an electrical store for the bulbs. Looking forward to buying corals .

My MH fixture was 180$.
