Craigslist Post too Good to Be True??

You could make it work. On my tank which is a 6x2x2, I have a 4 foot 4 tube T5HO unit. It lights up the whole tank and the room.

Im sort of new to the whole saltwater game, will the light be intense enough to grow all of the corals?

I don't think this will get it done. It won't grow all corals. SPS in a 125 would probably need 6 bulb wide at least and bulbs covering the whole 6 feet. Some SPS might do ok up high, but that isn't really enough light to thrive. Plus this fixture comes with bulbs you can't really use, I mean, you could use the 6500k but you would have a really yellow tank(highest growth would come from these but the worst colors). So you would have to go buy 100+ dollars worth of bulbs too(not that you wouldn't pretty much whatever you buy).

aznfish, it isn't about how much visible light it gives off. Almost all of our fixtures can light up a room. The key is how much usable light in penetrated far enough into the water for the corals to use. This fixture is going to fall somewhat short in that area.

Oh and I forgot, don't ever think something on Craigslist is too good to be true. Someone I know just picked up a 405 gallon tank and sump for FREE!! Custom tank in great shape for FREE! A guy in Chicago wanted it gone and just said come pick it up.

It was Spazdad(Dan) and I didn't know he was getting it free until after he had it. The dimensions are 72 x 36 x 37 which is just crazy. Not ideal, but still sick for free nonetheless.

Oh whoops, didnt read the coral bit. If your going corals it depends on what kind, height of light, glass cover.
Whats the wattage for the unit?
