I've been out of the house since 8am and checked/fed my fish(had a short photo session) before leaving. I'm finally getting ready to go to bed for the night so I go check on the fish before lights out(they are in my basement) and this is what I find!!! How did this pop up so quickly? I know this fish has been lip locking but I've never seen anything like this before....What is it and how do I treat it? Could it be a secondary infection due to lip locking and getting injured? How did it come on so quickly? Help! I've asked to have the FS ad closed on this fish and the other since I obviously do not want to sell a sick fish..

Looks like fungus. Salt treatment, raise the temp, keep water clean, use melafix and pimafix.

How high should I raise the temp? It's at 82* right now. I'll treat the tank now. Thank you!

82 sounds good. Maybe go 85. When you use melafix and pimafix make sure you have good aeration in the tank.

Eewww. herpes. a new poster to show kids how dangerous lip-locking is.

Lol!

Luckily this morning after just one dose of melafix(I didn't have any pimafix) he seems better. I'm going to go pick up some more melafix/pimafix this morning and will keep treating the tank. Hopefully he continues to improve and this doesn't spread to my other jds. Thanks guys :)

Make sure there"s no Carbon in the filter...

Both Melafix and Pimafix are very mild "herbal" treatments that won't do anything for most serious diseases, they're just another way to rip your money and give you a little make-believe peace of mind lol

Hopefully it works for you though.

What would you suggest for a fungal infection? So far the melafix/pimafix seems to be lessening the one fish's fungus. I'd like to make sure it's completely gone though lol
