The land of the pine
I just added a black crappie to my aquarium and my pickerel has been trying to attack it so far. It's only been in for 30 minutes. The crappie is way to big to be eaten by the pickerel. Should I expect this aggressiveness long term? I have a red breasted sunfish in there too and there hasn't really been problems with them. Let me know please.

pickerel are not aggressive more of an ambush predator .. feed him hes prob hungry they try to eat things that are wayyy to big for them in the wild and end up choking to death

Yeah, it's awesome to watch him ambush things. He sometimes turns completely sideways or even upside down to get the right angle on his prey. He has plenty on chubs to eat in his aquarium. Maybe he just wanted to try a new kind of fish. Either way he stopped for now.
