Hello. After a bit of a break I’m converting my 8’x30”x24”, 300 gallon from a planted tank to a hardscaped cichlid tank. I’ve been growing out geo sveni and red back scalare for about a year with plans to eventually put them in the tank. I have about a dozen of each. Recently I was able to get a trio of very small crassi. I’d really like to use them as well. I know they stay smaller than regular oscars. Do you think this would work?

I think the crassi & sveni would work, but those scalare would get mauled. Personally I'd stick with the geos & angels, but I might be biased b/c that's basically my dream tank haha

Thanks Decoy. I appreciate the reply. I know it would be a risk. Yep. I've had those 2 in the plans for a couple years. Has anyone out there had success with Crassi and angels?

I think it’ll work to be honest. The tank is large enough and Crassipinnis aren’t aggressive. Give it a shot and keep an eye out.

Here’s my Altum with some unconventional tankmates in a 280. I wouldn’t dare even try in a 180 or smaller. Foot print is 80x34 which gives me plenty of space to scape and provide cover.

Feed the Crassipinnis and angels different foods so they don’t compete. My altums hey small pellets and flake while the rest get pellets.

Looks like a great setup. I like the hardscape. How did you suspend the branches?
Thank you. None of the branches are suspended. I have them in a shelf arrangement to create the height.

What do you exactly mean with shelf arrangement? Placing the branches on other pieces of woord who hold them?

Yes. I have a thread in my signature. Check it out.
