Anyone ever put crawdads in with their aquatic turtles?

I like the blue ones. I think they'd add to the asthetic quality of the tank, but I'm less concerned about the turtles messing with the crawdads then I would be the crawdads injuring a curious turtle?

Adult blue crays (Procambarus alleni) can seriously harm and kill baby sliders. Adult sliders, in nature, have crayfish on their menu. The match is a definite bad one.

Thanks for the input.

My two sliders are 5 and 6 inches so their smallness isn't an issue. About to move them into a 120 gallon tank for a while and then a back yard pond in the not to distant future.

They're not very adapt at catching feeder fish, but it sure is entertaining watching them try.

I think it would be nice to have some variety in the tank with them, but it seems that they aren't very hospitible tankmates for most critters.

all are correct...i work at a fish store...we drop small crawdads in with our turtles and they get eaten...so eventually we put larger ones in...the crawdad grabed the turtle so we had to take it out immeadiately...so yes craw dad eventually eaten and your turtle probably get pinched and injured...negative ghost rider abort mission
