I had a large female who somehow managed to get fertilized by the quarter inch male and now we have been waiting 3 and a half weeks and viola, I have no f'ing clue how to get them out of the little one gallon we had her birth in, into a 10 with cover. There is large gravel (which I thought was brilliant for when they were born so they didnt get eaten) in the little birthing tank. Help :o

Well just for future notice you are supposed to have breeding net or container as those catch the eggs but make so the parents cannot eat them. Now as to getting the eggs out you could try slowly taking out each piece of gravel or just make the 1 gallon the perfect parameters for the eggs. Have them hatch and then move them to the 10 gallon . Good luck :)

Well she doesn't lay eggs, she holds them under her tail to keep water flow on them and protect them. For the most part they haven't left her tail still since they have hatched but even if I pick her up the babies don't come off yet. They are still being cared for. Very good suggestion on the gravel though. I didn't think about taking it out one by one. Tedious but safer than scooping a handful out and squishing 10 of em.

Does anyone know the status of the Texas Game and Wildlife laws on crayfish, specifically evasive species like the Cherax species?
