Yes like the title says.

My 90gal is in my room and i have a 7-8" huge crawfish that my piranhas wont eat, last nite i hear a loud splash and i roll over and go back to sleep, next i get a call at 7am from my roomate who lives in my basement and he says "i hear something crawling in the vents"! I go to my tank and NO GIANT CRAWFISH! He had to of climbed out on my fx5 hoses cuz theres a 1- 2" gap and walked clear across my room down into my vent (cover was cracked to allow more heat)! My basement is unfinished and my roomate said he followed the scraping noises along the vent pipe on the ceiling and when it got to a vent he saw a bunch of small tanish legs so i know its him. I had to be at work by 8am so i couldnt save him unfortunatly but i cant have a rotting carcus in my hvac! My vent in my room drops clear down to the basement and he said it stopped right at the furnace, anyone have any knowledge of hvac?

My only idea is to cut a 2"x8" rectangle w/ a recip saw and lite it up and use a hanger to get him out and then patch it up. Any other pratical ideas? Cuz he may not be in that spot he may be clear in the blower/furnace!

Thanks!

how about putting something stinky up in the vent your roomie saw the legs? the cray comes to eat and you can nab him.

dunno. don't just toss him back in the tank though if he isn't. put it in a bucket it can't climb out of with just enough water to cover him and a rock to climb out so he can rehydrate i's gills without drowning.

Mine crawled out of a tank on the top floor of my house, snuck between the banister railings that block off the hallway and survived a 12 foot drop down to the main hallway. The next morning we found him dried up and dead under the kitchen table. So he didnt survive longer than 8-9 hours out of water, but that could have been partly from the big fall he took off the 3rd floor.

Lol, mine did nearly the same. Crawled out of the tank, down to the floor, 15 feet to the next staircase then a 12 foot drop and dead :(

Wouldnt he have died by now? Its nearly 8 hours out of water!

as long as the vent have cool air i can survive for like more than 20 hours!

Well i unscrewed the vent in the basement leading to the furnace/blower and he isnt in the line, he had to have crawled all the way into the main unit which i cant cut a hole, hes in between the ac coiles and furnace! His drop was 2nd story all the way to basement so apprx 20-25'! My rommie said after he heard him crash that the craw was just barely crawling after that, so im pretty sure hes dead by now, i hope it doesnt cause damage or rotting or anything! This is bad, my day has been horrible, we moved 8tons of river rock and spread it between 3 guys :/

Thx for the advice any more suggestions?

You might need to get a tech out there, rotting animals in your furnace\AC can't be a good thing, for you or the furnace
