I have probably 10 crayfish that I never see in my 135gal tank as a clean up crew. The other day however, I saw about 20 or so 1/4 inch crayfish, they must have bred! so now I am excited and thought i would share. do you think that the babies will be okay in a tank with a large pacu, Pbass, oscar, mata mata turtle, knife fish, and a bunch of other crayfish? I really know nothing about them. should I try to remove the babies and set them up in the refugium?

thanks for your help guys!

i wouldn't keep them in there. but i've only bred shrimp so...

I'm honestly surprised you have adult crays in with the beasts you've got, as soon as the turtle and oscar learn that they're there, they're lunch.

mata mata turtle picke them off one buy one you should put them in a diffrent tank i wouuld do that gl man

I must say im very jealus you have a matamata. I wish I had the cash to get one but they were crazy expensive last time I saw them for sale. Have any pics of yours?

I'm surprised the adults stayed with those fish this long. If you can catch them, move them

about 5 of them survived. I didnt bother to move them since it was too much of a hassle to try and move all of the aquarium furniture around to try and find them. My mata mata takes no interest in them and the other fish dont usually pick on the cray's either since they all have a good hiding place. thanks for the advice but they are a little over an inch now, i was shocked at how quickly they grew.

As requested, here is a pic of my mata and the tank (it has been changed a little bit since this pic was taken when I first set up the tank).

Dude first and foremost that is a wicked set up, so impressive and original, B i'd move the little guys as far away from your oscars as possible. Yabbies/crays are like lobster to oscars, from what i've seen!
