My Cherex hides all the time. I never see her unless I pick up the driftwood over her den.

I notice that some people's crayfish seem to be out and about all the time. She's been in the tank well over a year (almost two). She has only molted twice since I've had her, at least that I've seen. She very well could have motled many times but I wouldn't know since she spends so much time in her den.

Is it normal for her to be hiding so much?

yep, thats a crayfish all right, they like to scavange at night, she may have molted more often, they eat the exoskeleton, its essential to their health to eat it so leave it in there. today i moved and statue and out popped a lil catfish and a cray that i hadnt seen in months. good hiders, they only come out when they want, i do have smaller crays that wonder around anytime i feed the fish, they must have a pretty good sence of smell, have you witnessed a molt?? its pretty nuts

I've never seen her actually molt, only found the old exoskeleton afterwards. She ate it up pretty quick.

For awhile she was "in love" with my husband; every night when he would turn on the X-Box whe would come out and cruise the front glass, waving her claws at him. She hasn't done that in awhile. Maybe it wasn't him but the "Halo" that she loved!:D
