I have some blue marrons coming my way. Normal when I have new fish coming to a tank I will add some of the freswhater aquarium salt at the recommended dose. Is there any doing this with crayfish? Do marrons like any salt in the water? One website I came across mentioned they might and most sites did not mention it period. Thanks for the help.

I havn't noticed any problem doing so...even in case of medicinal amounts they seem to do just fine.

The marron will tolerate up to 17ppT salt which is at brackish levels though not recommended for extended periods of time. As wolf has said, salt is NOT required but salt treatments of 2 to 5 ppT every second month will not hurt.

I'm treating my tank with salt that has a Blue Cherax in it for about 10 days now for ich (dammit).

And he's been happy and even molted on Tuesday!
