cray's will mummy eat them

my blue cray has just let go of her young there are about 20-30 little one
will mum eat them
should i take her out
or do they still need her
any info will be great i dont want to leave it to late:confused: :confused: :confused:
 
It's not Mom that you should worry about. Crayfish larvae are highly cannibalistic towards their siblings. Faster growing juvies will actively hunt down and eat their slower growing brothers and sisters. Size-grade separating and short interval feeding schedules can reduce (but not eliminate) the crays feeding upon each other. Most importantly, provide a calcium supplement for the crays molt. Larvae molt frequently in their initial growth spurt. A bird cage cuttlebone will provide the needed calcium. Without a supplement, the crays will go for each other to gain the calcium their systems need. Also, add a couple of drops of regular medicine cabinet iodine to aid in their molts.
