I was at one of my local pet store when I came across this little guy a Butis butis "Crazy Fish". I had to pick him up. I had only heard about this fish about a month ago so I was pumped when I found this 3" little guy. He already living up to his name by floating upside down, being blown by powerheads, and staying still for a long time. Sweet little oddball. If anyone has kept these be for Id like to hear some tips or advice.

You probably have already read all the online care sheets and profiles. They info there is most of what is known about these fish. Small brackish obligatory piscivore pretty much says it all.

Oh, I had one of those a few years ago. I absolutely loved it, one of my favorite fish. I loved watching mine eat... the mouth opened a lot larger than I thought it would, hah.

A friend had a few for a little while. it wil get about 5-6 nches long and they are slightly territorial, avoid any agressive cichlids as they wil cream it when it gets in a fight for territory, even kribs are too mean for these guys. Also provide a little variaty in salt levels as they often swim up and down rivers in the wild. they like current.

You sound like your doing everything right, good luck

The tank I got him from was fresh water and so is my tank. I read that they can live in both so I hope there will not be problem. Should I add some salt to the tank?

thay appreciate salt but you do not need to add much of it, if at all. they live migrating up and down river mouths rom full fresh to full salt in a search for food so tweaking the salinity is healthy for them, but they are quite resiliant in fresh water so I see no problems, just monitor his health and if he appears slimy or diseased add some salt

never seen one of these before - great looking fish - any chance of a video?
