Well I currently have a 240 gallon with a 14 inch Trimac, a Barred Midas-10, a RD-8, a female Dovii-7, and an Endi Endi-8. I want to keep the Trimac since he is gorgeous and get rid of the others so he can have the tank to himself. I would also like to add dithers instead, like SD-Spotted, Red Hook, and Blackline. Reason being is that it would be nice to have one Alpha Male cichlid in the tank with some nice silver fish to compliment him. What do you all think? Plus I tire of the fighting and he does harrass a lot of the other fish quite a bit. Not only that Im always having to feed fish and shrimp to my Endi-I figure if I get rid of that one I can stick to dry foods instead of both. Let me know all. Id also like to see if I could get my Trimac to eclips the 14 inch mark-he will be a year on the 20th and is already 14 inches.

Not sure what is crazy about it, if that is what you want then it sounds like a great idea to me.

Thanks I want my big brute with a shoal of SDs-think the look would be sweet. Tonite Ill post you all pics of my Trimac.

I think it sounds like a great idea. I think a big solo fish with RHSD's would look awsome in a big tank.

That is what I am trying for!

I have a Midas with 5 red hooks SD's. He is only about 5 1/2" and does not even bother the SD's at all, of course they are as big as him right now.

When I first introduced them, he showed his dominance toward them by attacking them but by the next morning they were all a big happy family. The only time he has any issue with them now is during cleaning. He will hide under a decoration during the water change and charge them if they come near. As soon as the tank is filled back up and I'm done he gets along with them fine.

I think you have a great idea! A massive solo Trimac with some large SD dithers will look great.

if that's how you want to setup your tank then it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks...but personally I think it sounds like a really cool idea :)

Ok change of plans-decided to keep my four cichlids and get rid of my Endi Endi-really boring fish. Plus I have a 55 gallon grow out tank and should recieve this morning from Rapps the following:
Red Bay Snook
Quetzal
Jaguar
Cuban
Escondido and
Kraussi
When they are large enough they willl go in the 240 gallon with the other 4-if in the future it gets way overstocked then I have my 1032 gallon on stand by-tell me what you all think.

Why dont you get him a female? Post pics of your Tri!

Nice pick ups, a monster cichlid communities are always nice. I wasnt so crazy about your other idea.
