CRAZY JACK? OR NORMAL BEHAVIOR?

Ok so I have an 8" male jack dempsey that untill a week ago I was able to hand feed pet and play with he is not skittish what so ever like most jacks he comes up to you when you walk up..so I ask why the change? Now he's a monster I kno there aggresive but really? Bad? Well a week ago I but the net in water to remove an un eatin piece of worm when my jack went crazy biting puching tugging on the net! I took a video of him acting up that I will be posting up later today..now even walking by the tank he will slam the glass there is a female jack in with him but she is only about 4"? Could something be going on? I've checked and no signs of eggs oh and both him and her have gotten very very! Dark but she doesn't follow him she looks intrested but it seems she is afraid of him so goes in a skull cave were he can't fit..if any one knows any thing please do tell I've had him for 3years

I have never bred jacks but my guess is he is sexually frustrated! She is not ready to spawn and he is, i believe the reson they have gone dark is due to stress.

A few questions, how long have they been together? Are they any other tank mates and what size is your tank.

Courting behaviors! He's beginning to get territorial because of his girlfriend, Lol. If you sit a distance away, you may get to see him courting her, if you don't distract them. In fact, it may even be possible that she wants to lay her eggs in the skull... Keep an eye on them!

My Convicts always go dark when they are battling it out with one another.

Yeah sounds like he's ready for some fish action which would explain the aggression. Prob thought you were going to pick up his gf lol.
