crazy koolie loach

Hey guys, i have a 240 gallon tank and a 60 gallon sump underneath, i put my coolie loach in the bio-balls thinking he could hid all day but after a month of not seeing him I saw him hiding in the rocks in the 240 gallon tank with my oscar marble catfish and my 4 goldfish. How he got there I have no idea. He's been in there ever since. Has anyone else a sneaky small fish living with large fish?

I have 3 in my community cichlid tank. I thought they would end up food for sure but they're always accounted for at feeding time. Love those little guys. They must not taste great, my fish don't even seen to try for them.
