pelican lake wi
I have a 90 gal. ciclid tank and about 6 months ago I found a small 1-2" catfish in my tank hiding. I thought my brother was playing a joke on me but he swears he didnt put it in there. The only thing I can think of is that my brother threw his minnows in the tank for my oscar. I found out what he was doing and told him not to do it anymore because of the diseases in the minnows. but Im thinking maybee a catfish somehow got in the minnow bucket from the bait store. Well I left the catfish in the tank thinking he would clean up the bottom of the tank. I eventually moved the oscars into a differant tank and just put ciclids and this catfish in the 90 gal. tank. Well I was cleaning my tank again and I found the ugleast fish ive ever seen in there. I know I never bought it. My brother swears he didnt. But it looks like a cross between a ciclid and a catfish. It seems to swim upsidedown for the mostpart. But its just ugly. It has wiskers and its tail is split in two. It has spots on it and lines down it also. Is it possible for a ciclid to breed with a catfish???? I took some pictures but they didnt turn out Im charging my batterties in the camera and I will snap a few good ones. I just dont know were or what this fish came from. I didnt think I waould harm anything by leaving the catfish in there to clean the bottom of the tank, But if you saw this fish:eek:. Ive had a few friends who want to buy it, but I dont even know what it is. I will post some pictures tommarrow.

Here are a few pictures of this fish that just appeared in my ciclid tank. Does anyone know what it is? It looks like a cross between a ciclid and a catfish. Its usually swimming upsidedown and it has wiscars like a catfish but spots and stripes like a ciclid. any ideas????????????

hes not ugly that is a pretty synodontis catfish

The missing bit of tail at the white line pegs the white line as a scar. Looks like a typical synodontis cat aside from the scar. They hide. Sometimes people buy them and forget they own one until they clean the tank out and find it in a log or something..

If you look close at the tail it doesnt look like it was bit into two. It looks like its saposed to be like that if you look at it close up. Im lost I never bought a catfish-ever. I thought my brother was playing a joke on me. But he swears he didnt but it. It looks like a cross between a ciclid and a bullhead. Im lost. Hes always upsidedown though. Well at least 90% of the time.
