OH...IO
Most LFS carry your normal "too large for home aquarium" type fish such as pacu, ID sharks, redtail cats etc. but I just found one that sells alligator gars and ...get this....mekong cats  . I didn't even realize mekongs were legal. These poor fish are doomed for sure.

Why do pet stores do that, they are doomed for sure. Yeah also that mekong is just a baby too, they get much bigger than that. I doubt though that it is a real mekong. I thought that they are protected now.

I'd probably have a hard time stuffing a full grown mekong in my 10' x4'' tank. I'm afraid it may have been a true mekong. It wasn't a ID shark or hi-fin paroon.

I have to admit there should be some sort of standard for what petstores can sell but at the same time be allowed to sell a certain fish if the customer has the adequate space even though it might be the size of a pool.

I've seen a LFS near my work that has a large pacu in a 30g tank. i have never seen it swim, it just sits on the side and tilted since vertically cant even fit into that tank.

of course they are having a special for that fish, only $20.00. :swear:

as long as money is involved, LFS wont care about what and who they sell the fishes to.
